Desc :4/1/2016 Fox News: An FBI fraud investigation into a Texas hospice has uncovered something far more sinister.
Authorities say that Brad Harris, the owner of Novus Health Services, ordered his nurses to overdose their patients, Trace Gallagher reported.
The FBI’s probe had initially started because of allegations that the center was recruiting patients who didn’t qualify for hospice care.
They later found that Harris would ask his employees to “find patients who would die within 24 hours.â€
Harris, an accountant with no medical training, would tell his nurses how much medication to administer, Gallagher reported.
Investigators say he even made statements like “If this (expletive) would just die…†and “You need to make this patient go bye-bye.â€
The FBI has not disclosed whether any patients have died from overdoses.
But as it turns out, “if patients stay too long, the provider can be forced to pay back the government, so the incentive is to have more patients with shorter stay,†said Gallagher.
No charges have been filed. But a lawyer has said Harris could be prosecuted “if he solicited, encouraged or directed another person to kill one of the hospice patients.â€
